8 Ball Pesa is the data controller for your information.
What we collect
Your phone number, player name, date of birth, identity verification results, device identifiers, transactions and match records, and, if you add them, your email address, profile photo and messages to support.
Why
To run your account and payments, verify your age and identity as the law requires, prevent fraud and cheating, and protect players.
App analytics
With Analytics on (Privacy → Personalised Experience) the app sends app-health counters: when a session starts, connection speed, error codes and crash reports, with screen names stripped of ids, codes and numbers. It never records what you type, your keystrokes, your screen or a replay of your session. There are no third-party analytics, advertising or session-recording tools in the app. With Analytics off, only crash reports are sent.
Fonts and outside services
The app's fonts and images are built into the app, so opening it never contacts Google Fonts or any other font, ad or tracking service. The app talks only to our own servers. Push notifications are delivered by Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) on Android and by Apple on iPhone; M-Pesa prompts come from Safaricom.
Account emails, such as codes and receipts, always come. Anything else (news and offers) only comes while Email notifications is on in Communication Preferences, and every such email has a one-click unsubscribe link that works without signing in.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Sign-in tokens on your phone live in the device's secure keystore.
Your rights
Under the Kenya Data Protection Act you can ask to access, correct or delete your data. Email support@8ballpesa.com. Some records must be kept for regulatory periods.
